Dyson Airwrap promises to style and dry your hair at the same time with no extreme heat in sight, all contained within one device. The product has been under development for six years, with 642 prototypes made and $31.4 million spent on research and development. So, how does the Dyson Airwrap work?
After washing our hair, use pre-styling dryer to dry your wet hair to damp. Then, use the 30 mm barrel to practice and select full power and high heat. The small but mighty Dyson digital motor V9, the same motor the Supersonic uses, creates high air pressure at the top of the styling barrel. Uniquely positioned in the handle, Dyson digital motor V9 spins on average 6 times faster than other hair dryer motors with one inaudible frequency – yet is on average one third of the weight. So the motor is able to force high velocity jets of air from six air slots around the barrel. The process creates a physical phenomenon known as the Coanda effect β when a high-speed jet of air flows across a surface and, due to differences in pressure, the air flow attaches itself to the surface.

We take a small section of hair, and hold the hair about 10 cm from the end and move it near to the barrel. Owing to the Coanda effect, high air pressure attracts hair to the barrel immediately and wrap it around the barrel automatically.
According to Dyson, the effect is that itβs far easier to style your hair at home. Without the hot metal of a curling iron near your face, you can easily avoid burns, and because the device works best when your hair is 85% dry, styling goes a lot faster. The stylist and Dyson Ambassador Larry King estimates using the Airwrap could cut down on the time he spends styling individual clients in his salon in London by about 40%. But maybe more crucially, without heat damage.
And forget damaging your hair β or earlobes and fingertips β because this beauty regulates its temperature with a built-in thermostat that “measures airflow temperature over 40 times per second,” which “transmits data to the machine’s microprocessor which intelligently controls the heating element, keeping the temperature under 150 degrees.” Talk about tech magic.
Then, we move barrel towards to our heads without twisting and hold the barrel until our hair is dry. After that, push the cold shot to set the curl. Finally, switch off and pull down to release the curl, and then the curl, beautiful hair is completed.
